Many years ago，Mrs.Thompson once lied to her Grade 5 students. She said she would love them equally. but it was impossible. ‘coz Teddy Stout who sit in front seat, was a frozy and distractible boy. Actually,Mrs.Thompson liked to make a mark of a big cross with red pen on Teddy’s paper. then marked “failed” on top of the paper.
One day，Mrs.Thompson checked the former records of the students.and accidentally discovered that the comments which the teachers gave to Teddy were astonishing.
Teacher in grade 1 wrote：
「Teddy is a smart boy,
With smile face always,
His homework was tidy、he is very polite,
he made people happy!
teacher in grade 2 said：
「Teddy is excellent,
He is welcome by classmates,
But his mom got a cancer,
He worried about her,
His family life must be
very hard！」
teacher in grade 3：
「mom passed away,Teddy must be very hard,
He tried hard but his dad always
ignored him,
If
without improvement,his family life will hurt Teddy.」
teacher in grade 4：
「Teddy began to retreat, and lose interest in learning,
No any friends,
sometimes sleep in
class. 」
Till now,Mrs Thompson know Teddy’s problem, She feel shame.And when she got Teddy‘s Christmas’gift.which was wrapped with kraft paper while the other students normally packed with ribbon beautifully. It makes Mrs. Thompson feel even more sorry.
She put up with sadness, and open Teddy’s gift in front of the whole class ,
Some began to laught at Teddy’s gift：
a fake diamond bracelet, which even lack of few diamonds,
the other one is a bottle of perfume which only a quarter left.
But Mrs.Thompson not only exclaimed how pretty it was,but also wore and sprayed some perfume on her wrist.
The other kids were all dumbfound.

And it was that day, Teacher Thompson did not teach “book”any more:
Not teach reading,not teach writing,not teach maths,
She began to teach Children！
Thompson began to care about Teddy specifically，
And Teddy’s heart seems live again,
the more encouragement on Teddy,
the faster his reaction .
till the end of the year,
Teddy became one of the smartest students in the class.
Though Thompson said she would treat them equally,but Teddy was her favourite student.
1 year later,Thompson found a note near the door,it is from Teddy,“you are the best teacher in my life!”
6 years passed,Thompson found another note,
And Teddy already graduated from high school,and his score is Top 3,in his class.
And Thompson still was“the best teacher in my life!”

4 years passed, and came another letter.
He told her that he will continue
his study. With the words again“ you are the best teacher in my life!” Signed with Dr.Stout at the end
And It is not the end of the story,you see.
A letter came in the spring.
Teddy said he met his destiny girl ,and would get married soon.
Teddy explained that his dad passed away years ago,and he wished that Mrs.Thompson could attend his wedding party as the groom mother,
And Thompson fulfilled his wish.
But surprisely,Mrs.Thompson wore the fake diamond bracelet,and sprayed
the same perfume,which Teddy’s mom
used at her last Christmas.
They hugged each other,
Dr.Stout
whispered to her :
「Mrs.Thompson,Thank you for
trusting me,
Thank you for you make me feel that
how important I am,
and make me believe that I have the ability to make a difference！」
Mrs.Thompson
told Teddy in tears:
「Teddy,you are
wrong！
It is you who teach me,make me
believe that I have the ability to make the difference.
Till I met you,I began to know
how to teach!」
